Israel’s healthcare system faces a growing challenge: a shortage of nurses at a time when demand for care is rising. With 6.9 nurses per 1,000 residents—well below the OECD average of 9.2—and nearly 40% of nurses approaching retirement, the need for highly trained professionals has never been greater.
Through its renowned Selma Jelinek School of Nursing, JCT is strengthening Israel’s healthcare system by preparing highly skilled nurses who serve communities across the country and respond when the nation needs them most.

With more than 1,400 students across undergraduate and graduate nursing tracks, JCT is strengthening the country’s medical workforce at a critical time.
The college also launched an English-speaking nursing program, enabling immigrants from countries such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, and the Netherlands to pursue nursing education in Israel and contribute directly to the nation’s healthcare system.

Following the October 7th attacks, faculty and graduates helped mobilize a volunteer network of 1,400 Haredi nurses, many of them JCT students and alumni, who stepped forward to support hospitals and emergency response organizations nationwide.

Originally from Cherry Hill, N.J., Rachel Rosin chose to pursue nursing at JCT as part of her Aliyah journey, drawn by the opportunity to train at one of Israel’s leading nursing programs while contributing directly to the country’s future.
